General Summary
Selected applicant will take lead role in executing BAE Systems Weight Improvement Program (WIP), facilitating weight change requests, and compiling weekly and monthly mass properties status reports for the Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) portion of the Army's Future Combat System (FCS). The selected applicant will apply a wide array of engineering design and/or analytical theory, principles, and techniques to support FCS MGV's challenging weight objectives, as well as conduct technical studies for complex engineering/scientific problems and provide advanced, specialized assistance to project leaders in a variety of tasks including generating and managing submitted weight reduction initiatives (WRI) and weight change requests (WCR). The selected applicant will facilitate weight management issues and findings with the Integrated Product Teams and will be a focal point for all weight change activity.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead BAE Systems evaluations of submitted WRI and WCR
2. Coordinate WRI/WCR information by maintaining WRI & Weight Accounting and Reporting System (WARS) databases
3. Present WRI/WCR information to Mass Properties and Design Teams
4. Provide weight management support under the direction of the MGV Weight Czar
5. Evaluate and validate WRI/WCR impact through mass properties analysis practices
6. Work together with General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) WIP manager counterpart
7. Compile report data in support of weekly and monthly contractual mass properties status reports
Basic Qualifications:
1. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related technical field
2. Five years of related technical experience to have the knowledge needed to solve complex technical problems
3. Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
4. Excellent (clear and concise) communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. A very high level of analytical ability to solve complex technical design/development problems
2. High levels of communication skills to prepare and present technical results to internal management and external customers
3. Substantial innovation to design/develop technical solutions
4. Understanding of manned ground vehicle configurations and system requirements
5. Weight Accounting and Reporting System (WARS) experience
6. Working knowledge of Pro-E
7. Self starter and ability to work within a multi-discipline team
