Key Words25. WEIGHT ENGINEERING - SYSTEM ESTIMATION
AbstractMost Mass Properties Engineers in the aircraft industry work to produce aircraft in quantities numbering in the hundreds or thousands. Some Mass Properties Engineers are involved in the predesign efforts that may lead to the next model of aircraft produced at their company. A relative few are involved in the modification of new and used aircraft. The purpose of this paper is to give a brief overview of the weight and balance procedures and methodology for executive and luxury modification programs. Since each aircraft modification program is tailored to meet the needs and tastes of the customer(s), only a general guide can be given to show some of the estimation methods, weight calculation methods, and procedures for each phase of a modification program. Actual weights and material unit weights have been included for many items.
