Key Words18. WEIGHT ENGINEERING - SPACECRAFT DESIGN
AbstractIn the conceptual design of new spacecraft, weight and center of gravity are usually adequate for determining the size and location of the wing for flight, but moments of inertia are sometimes needed if the vehicle is to be assessed for controllability. Techniques are proposed for approximating the moments of inertia of subsystems in a reasonable time, with reasonable accuracy, by estimating radii of gyration.
