The Caravelle SE-210 is a short/medium range twin-jet airplane, designed and built by a French manufacturer, SUD AVIATION, Toulouse, France. Many general discussions about this new aircraft type have been published, but only little detailed information with regard to weight and balance was available. The purpose of this paper is to address the weight and balance characteristics of this aircraft. The paper consists of a general aircraft description, seating arrangements, weight and center of gravity limitations, cargo compartment loads and volumes, as well as basic figures for weight calculations.
The paper includes discussions on center of gravity limits and the application of safety margins with regard to fuel, crew and passenger movements, and seating assumptions. Different devices for balance computation are discussed as well as a section on the loadability of this aircraft with consideration of the fuel tank arrangement dictated by the swept wing design.
