  • Friday, November 12th: Technical Presentations, Vendor Exposition and Luncheon
  • Saturday, November 13th: Training (AWBS and Measuring Mass Properties)

Technical Program: Technical presentations, the vendor exhibition and a luncheon (included with conference registration) are scheduled for Friday November 12th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Presentations to date include:

  • "Lessons from the Past: the Transition from Wood to Metal Aircraft Structures" by Scott Malaznik - Lockheed Martin Aeronautics    
  • "Weight Growth and the Cost of Optimism" by Doug Howarth - Lockheed Martin Aeronautics

Training: Two SAWE advanced technical training courses will be offered:

  • Automated Weight and Balance System (AWBS): This one-day class will present all the new features of Version 10 of the Automated Weight and Balance Software in a hands-on training class. Students will receive a complete overview of the software features to support weight control programs for military aircraft. The instructor will also allow time to address specific AWBS needs and questions of the students. Students are required to bring their laptop computer. A demo version of AWBS 10.0 will be provided at the beginning of the class.
  • Measuring Mass Properties: This full day course includes classroom discussion and hands-on laboratory exercises on how to measure mass, center of gravity, moment of inertia (MOI) and calculating product of inertia (POI).

Vendor Exhibition:

Space is still available for vendors to exhibit their products and services in conjunction with the technical & training sessions on Friday, November 12th and Saturday, November 13th. Register to be an exhibitor by contacting Richard Lidh at richard.lidh@lmco.com or (661) 572-7760.

Fees:

  • Technical Session -   $80 for SAWE member
  • Technical Session -   $50 for SAWE retiree, student or unemployed member
  • Training -   $200 for SAWE member
  • Late Fee -   $50 for registering after November 5th
  • Non-members assessed an extra $100 fee to register for technical sessions and training  
  • Lunch included in all Technical Session and Training fees
  • SAWE one-year Memberships are available for as low as $50 at SAWE Membership.

Hotel Reservations / Information:

Hotel Reservations: There are a limited number of guest rooms blocked for the conference on Thursday night (Nov 11), Friday night (Nov 12) and Saturday night (Nov 13). Hotel reservations can be made by calling the hotel reservation department at (800) 228-9290, calling the hotel directly at (805) 643-6000 or online at Ventura Beach Marriott Registration.  Please identify yourself as part of the Society of Allied Weight Engineers group/meeting to credit our room block and receive a special conference room rate of $110. Discounted parking is also available - $5/day for self parking and $10/day for valet parking. Rates are subject to a local hotel and sales tax. The reservation cutoff date for receiving the conference
rate has been extended to November 5, 2010.
