Abstract

The wing weight formula derived in S.A.W.E. Paper No. 8 was presented in its original form as a result of a series of simple steps and logical assumptions. These simple steps and logical assumptions, however, resulted in a long, complex formula. As a result of numerous comments made on this complex formula, this paper his been written as concise as possible to simplify the use of this estimating method and to broaden its scope in evaluating the various design features of airplane wings.
