Abstract

Unique aircraft concepts associated with stealth and high maneuverability requirements may require unconventional landing gear configurations. Present statistical weight estimation equations offer quick group weights, however, they may be inadequate because they do not always respond to unconventional variations in geometry, design conditions, or performance requirements. This paper illustrates that analytical weight estimates are more sensitive than statistical methods to variations in the design of landing gear.
