Abstract

Many processes and activities are being conducted by the F-22 Team to control weight and cost. This paper describes only one of those processes and specifically focuses on the unique aspects of how we integrated cost reduction initiatives into our existing Weight Improvement Program to create the F-22 Cost/Weight Improvement Program. The purpose of this paper is to inform the weight and cost control communities of our success with this initiative. The paper also provides examples of forms, process descriptions, and operating instructions, etc. in Appendices B and C which can be utilized by the readers as a framework to create and tailor a fully integrated Cost/Weight improvement Program for their projects.
