Abstract

The weight and balance role in airline operations is an important role that is not always given the attention and dedication it requires. Federal Aviation Regulations require control of weight and balance for all air operations. In many parts of the developing world, an extensive program for control of weight and balance has been implemented, but, as will be shown, there still remains plenty of opportunity for improvement. This paper provides the reader an orientation to the role of the Flight Operations department in ensuring weight and balance is carefully controlled, and the mission is safely carried out.
