Abstract

In order to certify aircraft, it must be shown that during a ditching, passengers will have sufficient time to exit the aircraft before it sinks. The most cost-effective means of providing this demonstration is by computer analysis. This paper discusses the physical principles on which this analysis is based, and some techniques used to perform it.
