| Abstract | Through research, the titanium industry has developed a new family of titanium alloys which offer potential weight saving to the aircraft Design Engineer. Three of these alloys are reviewed. MSM 2.5A1-16V possesses excellent formability and is heat treatable. MSM 821 is weldable and has high hot strength and creep resistance. MSM 185 is heat treatable to give the highest strength/weight ratio of any commercial materiel currently in use. |
