Abstract

This paper was presented at the Twenty-second Annual National Conference of the Society of Aeronautical Weight Engineers at St. Louis, Missouri, April 29-May 1, 1963. During the last several years the missile industry has required increasingly greater accuracy in weight and balance determination, at the same time desiring greater efficiency in the performance of these operations.
The cradle weighing system enables an achievement of far greater accuracies with less effort than was previously thought possible to maintain. Furthermore, the cradle system can be adapted to any size or shape object designed. This system now enables us to furnish all types of hardware with less than .05% error in weight and c.g., thus enabling far more exact calculations of missile capability. This discussion is equally applicable to either a three or four cell cradle system; for this presentation, a four cell system has been selected.
