Abstract

This paper presents a discussion of a generalized method of computing in-flight mass characteristics, such as mass, center of gravity, moment of inertia about the center of gravity and about the principal axes, and principal angles. The method provides mass characteristics for all times during vehicle flight, and utilizes a data processing system having the IBM 7094 capability.

Emphasis is given to the philosophy, methods, capabilities and uses of this type of computing program.

The mechanics of programming, and the mathematics involved since they are basic in nature, will be mentioned by not emphasized.

The versatile nature of this type program and its application to any vehicle that moves will be stressed.
