The technique presented consists of a series of empirical equations which will allow stage weight, for any propellant combination, mixture ratio, and engine thrust level, to be estimated to a reasonable degree of accuracy using simple and readily available input parameters.

The method has proven useful for “first cut” estimates as well as a gross check on the validity of weights derived by more sophisticated analyses.
