Aircraft Loading - General %X Concorde's external configuration and internal layout are first discussed with illustrations of the British Airways aircraft. There is a description of the fuel tankage and fuel system layout and functioning together with the cockpit layout illustrating the fuel transfer and CG control instrumentation. The requirements for the use of fuel to maintain aircraft trim during the considerable Centre of Pressure movements that occur are illustrated and the relevant Mach/CG boundaries. Flight Manual Take-off Weight limits are calculated for a fixed Take-off CG and the means by which this CG is achieved is explained. The importance of the Zero Fuel CG in defining Landing CG limits, Maximum Take-off fuel and other limitations is described. The success of the manufacturers in achieving strict weight control is illustrated and the importance of strict Empty Weight Control is illustrated and the importance of strict Empty Weight Control in service is illustrated by the procedures set up within British Airways to achieve this. The importance of weight and CG control in flight on aircraft performance is described and some details of in-service experience are included with references to payload distribution and ground handling. %B 36th Annual Conference, San Diego, California, May 9-12 %I Society of Allied Weight Engineers, Inc. %C San Diego, California %P 38 %8 5/9/77 %G eng %U https://www.sawe.org/papers/1152/buy %9 1.
