Author Instructions

The process for presenting your work at the conference is as follows (use the buttons to the right):

  1. Submit your abstract to the SAWE Technical Committee. Abstracts should include the paper title, authors' names, positions and company/organization affiliations.  They should be 250-350 words in length and should contain a statement of the problem or objective, the method of approach, and summary of conclusions.  The abstract should not deal with specific data. Once your abstract is accepted, you will be contacted with your paper number and group.
  2. View/Download the instructions which describe the correct format of the paper, helpful suggestions for writing technical papers, copyright assignment forms, and other information to assist in preparing for the conference and your presentation. A sample paper in MS Word format and a sample presentation in MS PowerPoint format are also available for download.  Poster guidelines for students are also available.
  3. Write your paper with the following information on the standard cover page:
    • Paper Number and Group (as supplied by the VP Technical Director)
    • Paper Title (in CAPS)
    • Authors' Names and Affiliations
    • Conference Number: 85th SAWE International Conference on Mass Properties Engineering
    • Conference Dates: May 19 - 21, 2026
    • Conference Location: Valencia, California

  4. Once your paper is complete, use the bottom button to submit it to the Technical Committee prior to the deadline to ensure it is considered for the Mike Hackney Best Paper Award.  Papers submitted after the deadline will still be accepted but will not be eligible for award consideration.  Use this button to also submit your release form and presentation by the listed deadline to ensure adequate time for inclusion in the conference proceedings.
